MEPs support Worst Lobby Awards!
Dennis de Jong:
“As a member of the European Parliament, active in the crisis committee and the committee dealing with the long term budget of the European Union, I can assure you that the influence of the financial industry is tremendous. I have experienced how in ‘public’ conferences critical voices are being silenced and how members of the parliament and the financial sector seem to be singing of the same hymn sheet in the European Parliamentary Financial Services Forum. The financial industry has an enormous influence on shaping the policy debate. I therefore fully support the Worst Lobbying Awards 2010 to expose this industry’s effect on EU policymaking.”
Dan Jorgensen:
“Worst EU Lobbying Awards is a different and humorous way of drawing attention to a very serious matter – that is the terms and restrictions for the heavy lobbying in the EU. It is crucial to promote transparency for all stakeholders that lobby within the EU in order to avoid fraud. I’m proud to take part in promoting this cause with the Worst EU Lobbying Awards.”
